Upcoming in November 2013

Lakeview Baptist Church … Every Day Believing For Greater Things!

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or dream, according to His power that works in us.” … Ephesians 3:20

What comes to your mind when you think of November and December? I think of … thankfulness – celebrating the birth of Christ – love – family … Our ministry events for November and December go right along with these four thoughts. November and December are going to be special months at LBC and I hope you can attend each ministry event as they are going to be very special!

Welcome to the Lakeview Church Family … Ainsley Latham was saved Sunday morning September 29th and followed the Lord in believer’s baptism on Sunday, October 13th. Tyler Latham was saved Sunday October 27th and will be following the Lord in believer’s baptism on Sunday, November 3rd. Welcome Ainsley and Tyler to the family of God!

Sunday, November 10th … We will be honoring our men and women who have given so much in serving our country! A big thank you goes out to all of our men and women who have and are serving our country! We owe you so much!

A Christmas Love Gift … December 15th, we will be going as a church to sing Christmas carols and present “Gifts of Love” to people. Each Sunday in November we will have a “Christmas Love Gift” information insert sheet in the bulletin. November 24th will be the deadline for submitting these Christmas Love Gift information inserts. We ask that if you know of that special someone who you would like for us to go to and sing and present this gift of love, then please fill out the insert and put it in the offering, or give it to Carol Calhoun. There will be much more on this in the December newsletter.

Church Family & Friends Thanksgiving Dinner November 24th starting at 5:00 PM we will be having our Thanksgiving evening of praise – fellowship – dinner. This is a great time to invite your friends to come and meet your church family in a casual setting. This year, we are adding a new part to our Family & Friends Thanksgiving Dinner. We are going to have a time of “praise & thanksgiving” … this is going to be a time where we are going to offer up praise and thanksgiving to the One who is worthy of our praise! So on this evening, I will be asking people to share at least one thing that they are thankful for. So start preparing now to praise the Lord for something in your life! What a special night this promises to be … A Time of Praise – A Time of Dinner – A Time of Fellowship!

New Church DirectoriesThe distribution of the new directories has already begun and if you have not received one, please see Kelly Crick as Kelly is the one seeing that each family receives their new directory. Again, a big thank you goes out to Robin Davis (pictures), Kelly Crick (organizing), and Mike Rinke (labor & materials)!

VolleyballDid you know that we have a volleyball team? Well, we do. Check out the dates and times on the calendar and come on out and cheer on our young people as they compete in the Hopkinsville Church League. All games are played at the recreation department building on Richard Street by the fairgrounds.

Veteran’s Ministry New Dates for November & DecemberNormally Veteran’s ministry is on the fourth Thursday of every month … but for November and December, the Veteran’s ministry is being moved to the third Thursday. So on November 21st, we will be going to the Veteran’s home in Hopkinsville at 10:30 AM. We owe our Veterans so much for what they have given to our country! This a time where we share a brief word of encouragement from God’s Word and then we serve them a hot meal that has been prepared by our kitchen ministry team. These Veterans will bless you so much as they are so thankful for us coming and ministering to them!

Also on the third Thursday of November and December is an opportunity for the men of our church to go to the Hopkinsville Jail and minister the Word of God to these men at 5:45 PM. These men just cannot get over that someone cares enough about them that would come and take time to be with them. These men do not have to attend the service … they choose to do so! I believe that the November and December months will be extra special as you all know, these months are special in being with family and many of them will not get to do that. On average we minister to 30 to 40 men each month.

These are two amazing mission ministries right here in our own back yard. What a blessing it is to be a part of them. I want to encourage you, to join one or both as you will be blessed by attending!

Elkton Christmas ParadeThe Elkton Christmas Parade is December 6th. Instead of constructing a float, we are going to set up a booth giving out tracts – hot chocolate – coffee to everyone. Wow, what a way to proclaim Jesus and Lakeview Baptist Church!!! We are in need of a couple of canopies so we can set up under them. We also need a portable generator. Much more information coming very soon!

Operation Christmas ChildWe will not be able to send a group of workers to Atlanta this year as all the openings for workers were filled before we could get our name on the list. However, we will still be putting together 100 boxes to send and make a child’s Christmas a lot brighter. The boxes will be in the foyer starting Sunday, November 3rd and we ask that they be returned no later than the 17th. Each box has a list inside of them for items that need to be purchased. Each box has the same list. If you don’t have the time to shop for these items or had rather someone else do that for you, you can donate $20.00 (cost of items on list) and we will see that the items will be purchased. Kelly Crick is leading this mission’s ministry for us.
