Lakeview Baptist Church … Every Day Believing For Greater Things!
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or dream, according to His power that works in us.” … Ephesians 3:20
We have some great ministry events taking place this month … May 11th, our Mother’s Day worship service, May 18th, our “A Special Evening … A Circle of Love”, and then our 25th Anniversary Celebration. I will talk more about each of these ministry events later in this newsletter.
I personally think as a child of God, we are never more fulfilled than when we are serving Him with our gifts, talents and faith! Let me explain … when we are using our gifts and talents, we are saying, “Lord, what you have given me; I’m using them in service for your glory!” When we are using our faith, we are saying, “Lord, I’m totally trusting in You because on my own, I can never do this!”
Over the years I have come to believe that when ministry takes place, it is because people make sacrifices for the glory of the Lord. The sacrifices vary, whether it is of time, or money, or effort, or like I said a minute ago, trusting. Ministry happens when people give whatever they have to the Lord. When people quit giving their gifts, talents and faith unto the Lord, then ministry stops.
As pastor, I would like to thank all of you for the sacrifices you make to make ministry happen here at LBC! During one of our recent ministry events, I just paused and began looking around and seeing so many of you working so hard for the glory of the Lord and the love for each other that you were displaying. It was so beautiful! As it so touched my heart I just began to imagine how it touched the heart of our Lord.
If you are not currently involved in ministry here at LBC, know one thing … you are needed and there is a place for you but most of all I want you to experience the awesome feeling of serving the Lord!
Construction …The construction continues of outside space, classrooms, storage rooms and extra fellowship hall space. I can’t hardly wait till we began ministry in these new areas! Also plans have already been finalized for our new walkway, park benches and center piece. The walkway will be connecting our overflow parking to our campus parking which will be close to the center of the cemetery. Not only will it be more convenient for people, it will add beauty to our cemetery.
Mother’s Day …Mother’s Day is May 11th. It’s been said, “There’s no touch like a mom’s touch.” And I believe that to be so true. When God made woman, He made a very special person (I can just hear the amen’s from our women)! Their love, touch and special care that they give is beyond words. Have you ever noticed that when a child is sick, they want their mother! That’s because mom can comfort the child like no other!
On this day, we will be celebrating all those special ladies that the Lord has put in our lives in our morning worship service. We will be presenting a special gift to all our ladies and the rest of the service will honor our ladies and give glory to our Lord through music and the Word on this special day! It’s going to be a special day on Mother’s Day here at LBC!
Remember, we will not have any pm services that night so people can go and celebrate more with their moms and the special ladies in our lives!
A Special Evening … A Circle of Love” … On Sunday evening, May 18th at our regular Sunday evening worship time of 6:00 PM we will be a first ever … “A Special Evening … A Circle of Love”. Trust me when I tell you that you don’t want to miss this one of a kind service! The rest is a surprise for everyone. You don’t want to be one of those people who hears about it on Monday, but you want to be one of those who tells about it on Monday. So even if you don’t usually attend on Sunday night, this is one Sunday night that you don’t want to miss. OK … one little hint … I will not be preaching! The rest of the service … well, you’ll just have to come and find out!
Church Clean Up Day … Will be the 17th at 8:00 AM. The more that come, the more we get done! So come on out and help us clean up, fix up, cut up, straighten up and anything else that needs a touch on this day. Believe when I say, there is a job for every one of all ages … inside and out!
It has been said that first impressions are the strongest and I really do believe that. Have you were been to a church or drove by and you noticed how well their campus is kept up. I know I have! I really think it reflects how that church family cares and feels about what the Lord has given them in a place to come and worship! So let’s make the statement to all who come and to all who just drive by … we love and care about the campus of worship and fellowship we call Lakeview Baptist Church! See ya at 8:00 AM!
Alpha Alternative Baby Bottle Campaign …Wow … all the baby bottles were taken this past Sunday for people to take home and fill them with money. Don’t worry … if you didn’t get one this past Sunday we will have more this Sunday! This is an awesome ministry right here in Hopkinsville that we have an opportunity to help. Last year I had the honor of taking our filled baby bottles to Alpha ministry and you should have seen the workers faces as I brought them in. They gave me a tour of the place and all I can is praise the Lord for what He is doing through these caring people as they bring the love of Jesus and a message of hope to women experiencing crisis pregnancy situations! So let’s fill those bottles LBC family!
25th Anniversary … This month (May 25th) we will be celebrating 25 years of ministry at Lakeview Baptist Church!
It’s going to be a wonderful day of celebration!
The day will start off with our Sunday School at 9:30 AM.
Our “Celebration Service will start at 10:30AM. In our celebration service there will be special singing … pictures … the history of Lakeview Baptist Church … recognition of LBC’s charter members … a special plaque presented to the church and a special place dedicated for its hanging … 25th anniversary t-shirts for everyone … and much more! And oh, yes … an amazing 25th anniversary dinner following! Be sure and invite all your family and friends to join us on this very special day of celebration!
Memorial Day …is celebrated every year on the final Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.
On Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
