Lakeview Baptist Church …

Every Day Believing For Greater Things!

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or dream, according to His power that works in us.” … Ephesians 3:20

Wow … has it really been two years serving as the pastor of the most awesome church in the world? To say it has been overwhelming is an understatement! There is a lot of truth in an old saying … time flies when you are having fun. I can honestly say that it has been such a blessing serving you! I cannot begin to list the ways you have blessed Sheila and I since we have been a part of this awesome family! I just hope that Sheila and I have returned the blessings back to every one of you in some way!

From the very beginning, I felt the Lord telling me … Just show and prove to them that they have a pastor that loves them and will walk the course of life with them. In striving to do that, I never dreamed that a church family could show the love that you have shown to Sheila and me. We still thank the Lord daily for every one of you!

Why Should I Join A Church? …

Have you ever thought about the difference between the sayings … “I go to Lakeview Baptist Church” … compared to … “I go and belong to Lakeview Baptist Church”?

Belong is such an interesting word … The dictionary describes “Belong” as … to fit in / to be suited to / to have a rightful place / to have a home. I love the last one … to have a home! Let me ask you, where is your church home? My prayer is that you can or will say soon … I attend Lakeview Baptist Church, but it is much more than just a church I attend … it is my church home!

New Construction …

Construction will begin very soon! We will be enclosing of the entrance to the fellowship hall from the parking lot. The new construction will give us some new classrooms, an extended fellowship hall, and also new storage rooms. Also in the construction will be the building of a new carport which will be extending out from the back of the building giving us an area to cook outside (grilling) and also a place to have outside fellowship.

Cemetery Construction …

New construction will not just be taking place in our building, but also in our cemetery. There will be a new sidewalk which will be connecting the Additional Parking Lot to our existing parking lot. This new sidewalk will cross in the center of the cemetery. There will also be a couple of park benches for people who would just like to sit and reflect while visiting their loves who are buried in our cemetery.

Additional Parking Lot …

Also among the things of construction will be the additional parking lot which will soon be graveled for better parking.

Duck Dynasty Bible Study for Men

We men are having a wonderful time of dinner, fellowship and Bible study. Attendance has been great. Each meeting starts with a fellowship meal, followed by a showing of Duck Dynasty, followed by a look into God’s Word with discussion. I want to encourage all the men and your friends to come on out and enjoy this night for the guys!

The Main Event

The Main Event is a men’s conference that is simply outstanding! Last year the men from LBC went and had an outstanding time of fellowship and spiritual feeding! This year the dates are August 1st and 2nd and will be held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. I know that these dates seem like a long time off, but it will be here before you know. So this is a reminder to mark your calendars for this fantastic men’s ministry event. If you have not already signed up, but would like to go, please see Chris Crick and let him know. Some of this year’s speakers are, Jeff Struecker from Black Hawk Down. Last year Jeff was simply amazing as he had every man in the house on the edge of his seat while he spoke. Coach’s Bobby and Tommy Bowden. President George W. Bush. NASCAR racing legend Darrell Waltrip. One of the most anointed song writer and singers Michael W. Smith will also be there along with many more!

25th Anniversary …

We are having special signs made for our families to put out in their front yard. These signs not only tell the great news of us celebrating 25 years of ministry, they also tell everyone where you go to church and they also share the news that LBC is alive and well! We will be distributing them Sunday, March 9th.

Golden Apples …

This month Kristy Wyatt will be cooking the special recipe and Kathy Walker will be bringing the devotion. Ladies … this is your time, so mark it down on your calendar as a must time just for you! It all happens March 23rd at 4:00 PM in the fellowship hall.

Fellowship Night

Last month, Mike Reinke shared with us and boy did the people enjoy it. This month we will have another special surprise (speaker, singer, game, etc), so don’t miss out on some awesome food, great fellowship and who knows what else as we gather together as church family and friends for a laid back time in our fellowship hall.

Sermons On CD …

Do you know of someone who is home bound and cannot go to church? Did you know we make a CD copy of every Sunday morning service? What a great gift to give someone who cannot attend church and hear God’s Word. I would like to encourage you to start getting copies of the Sunday morning sermon and taking them to these people who cannot attend church. It not only says to them, “I care about you.” But you are also taking God’s Word to the world, in which God calls us all to do. All you have to do is see Gary Parker for a free copy!

Missions At LBC …

I would like to share with you a portion of a letter that was sent to our church from the Kentucky Baptist Convention … “Thank you for advancing the Kingdom of our Lord through the Cooperative Program! In the fiscal year 2012-13, your church gave $3,112.14 toward Great Commission work. Your investment in missions paved the way for 15 new churches to be planted in Kentucky, more than 1,000 in North America, and over 23,000 overseas! Through Crossings Ministries, you shared the gospel with over 10,000 teenagers, resulting in 794 professing faith in Christ. Through Baptist Campus Ministry, you shared the gospel with thousands of college students, resulting in 250 professing faith in Christ. Through your International Mission Board missionaries, you shared the gospel among the nations, with over 300,000 professing faith in Christ. Again, thank you for all you are doing to reach Kentucky and the world for Christ through the Cooperative Program.”

Taking Church To Our Shut-Ins

On Sunday night, Feb. 23rd we went to Ed and Daisy Hales home to worship for our very first “Taking Church To Our Shut-Ins.”  On Monday morning after the service I sent out a “Feed Back” survey asking people what they thought about the service. Here are some of the responses … “Daisy and I were so touched by the service tonight. Please tell the church just how much it meant to us. It is our prayer that God will continue to bless Lakeview as it carries out His commission.”  … “I’m glad I was a part of this awesome thing the church has done.” “I think it went great!” … “We enjoyed the services with Ed and Daisy very much” “Definitely something to continue doing. I think that it was a great idea. I also thought the children and their craft gift were wonderful” … “I enjoyed it” “I knew that our church was a loving church, but this was just awesome!” “It was wonderful!” “I think that is what it felt like when the early church met in the book of Acts” “I think that everything went great. It was so good to be with them and I could tell that it meant a lot to them. I think that it is a wonderful idea to go into the homes of our shut-in church members.”

Communicating …

Since we are communicating through email and text like never before (69 emailing … 35 texting) … we have upgraded my phone so that I can receive emails as well as text messages when I am on the road. In the past, if you emailed me and I was not at my computer, then I would not be able to read it nor would I be able to respond to it as well till the next morning but now whether I’m on the road or at my computer, I will get your email as soon as you send it to me and I can also respond to you as well.

Also many people were having problems talking to me as I would lose you or I could not understand you as you would start sounding like you were in a deep well.

All these problems should be corrected now as it is my desire to be available to you 24/7 as your pastor. This new update will allow me to be better be available to you.

If you are not currently on my email or text list and would like to be, just send me an email at pap4ut@gmail.com sharing with me to add you to the email list or if you would like to be added to the text list, just send me a text at 270-881-6233 telling me to add you to the text list and I will be more than happy to add you to the list.
